Wylie Talbot Gibbs (born
26 July 1922 ) was anAustralia n politician. Born inQueensland , he was educated at Ipswich Boys' Grammar School and theUniversity of Queensland before becoming a doctor and grazier. He was a doctor with the Royal Flying Doctor Service 1947-48 and was a house surgeon inLondon ,England , 1949-51. From 1953-64 he was a surgeon in Ipswich andBrisbane . In 1963 he was elected to theAustralian House of Representatives as the Liberal member for Bowman, defeating Labor memberJack Comber . He held the seat until his defeat in 1969, after which he became Executive Director of the Australian Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers' Association. Brother of Sir Harry Gibbs.
