Mick Gray

Mick Gray [http://www.mickgray.net] has been a professional comic book inker since 1989. He is best known for his work on Promethea (with J H Williams III and Alan Moore) and Legion of Super-Heroes (with Barry Kitson and Mark Waid).

Mick started out as a technical illustrator and graphic artist in Silicon Valley, California. When his best friend recommended him to a local comic book artist Mick's life changed! He brought his portfolio over to Slave Labor Graphics and was instantly hired as a background artist. When writer/publisher Dan Vado and penciller Norman Felchle sold their book The Griffin to DC Comics, Mick was hired as an assistant to inker Mark McKenna (Banana Tail). Mick assisted other inkers in the early 1990s and was able to develop his own relationships with the editors at DC and Marvel Comics. Soon Mick was proving himself as a solo inker. In 1994 Mick met J H Williams III at a local comic book convention and kept in touch. They vowed to work together sometime. It didn't take long. They soon became quite a popular team, working on several projects together including DC Elseworlds The Justice Riders (Chuck Dixon), Son Of Superman (Howard Chaykin), Chase (D. Curtis Johnson) and Promethea (Alan Moore). In 2005 Mick joined forces with Barry Kitson on Legion of Super-Heroes, which quickly became Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Currently Mick is working at DC Comics on multiple projects. You can see him each year at San Diego Comic Con International in artist alley. He is a very approachable guy, so stop by and say "Hi".
