The Fly (opera)

"The Fly" is an opera in two acts by Canadian composer Howard Shore to a libretto by David Henry Hwang. It is the result of a commission made by both the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, where the opera premiered on Date|2008-07-02, and Los Angeles Opera, where the opera was first performed on Date|2008-09-07. The work was broadcast by Radio France's station France Musique on Date|2008-08-02. [cite web

The story of the opera is loosely based on David Cronenberg's 1986 film "The Fly" which was based on the short story of the same name by George Langelaan; Howard Shore also wrote the —unrelated— score for that film. [cite news
