Kamel Ajlouni

Kamel Ajlouni, M.D., Ph.D (1943-) is an internationally recognized pioneer physician in the field of endocrinology. Ajlouni was born in Sariyyeh, Jordan in 1943. He earned
MD degree from the Heidelberg University School of Medicine in 1967. The next year he got a Ph.D in anatomy. Ajlouni got the American Board of Endocrinology and pioneered in the field of diabetes and endocrinology. Doctor Ajlouni became professor of endocrinology at the department of internal medicine, University of Jordan in 1985. Professor Ajlouni has written more than 120 professional papers in the field of endocrinology. In recognition of his contributions, In 2008, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) has presented him with the International Clinician Award for his contributions to clinical endocrinology.

The professor worked in numerous posts mainly as minister of health from 1984-1985. He is one of the founders of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) and was its president from 1986-1995. Ajlouni is the president of The National center for Diabetes Endocrine and Inherited Diseases in Jordan from 1996. Professor Ajlouni has also worked as senator in the Jordanian congress from 1996-2001. He was appointed again as a senator in 2007.
