Lihnida is a folk song from the
Republic of Macedonia . It tells the story of a bereaved woman rowing onLake Ohrid , and her brief discussion with fisherman (described as old friends). They promise that they will calm the waves if they make any, but she replies that she wants them to stop worrying about it, and to leave her and the lake in peace.The song was composed by Efto Pupinoski and won first place at the 1985
Valandovo Folk Festival.Lihnida is an old name for Ohrid, probably derived from the Macedonian Lychnidos.
