Ammerer Bed Company

Betten Ammerer (Ammerer Bed Company) is a traditional Austrian family business in the 8th generation. The enterprise is active above all the areas of Sleeping Systems, textile arrangements and lingeries. Ammerer performs different kinds of services: The company owns a curtain needlework, performs biological bed cleaning, does mattress delivery and old mattress disposal. Monogram embroidering, spatial planning in 3-D and the organisation of wedding tables belong to the extensive service offer.

Philosophy

The Ammerer Bed Company considers itself as a family-friendly company. The apprentice training is one of the basic interests.

Historical

*In 1763 Leopold Ammerer marries into a “Posementierbetrieb” (a special kind of weavers-craft) in “Ried im Innkreis” and attained therefore the market rights. With his wife Mechtildis he founds family as well as company Ammerer and lays thereby the foundation-stone for the coming generations.
*In 1816 the parent company at the Rieder main square is acquired successfully by the 2nd generation. Today the house accommodates beside the real business also the whole logistics, marketing and PR department.
*In 1848 the –meanwhile- third generation continues the successful textile distribution, blessed with eight children.
*In 1888, by the economic rise of the region, the company integrates the sector “cloth wholesale”.
*In 1914 the company -in spite of difficult economic basic conditions like inflation, the economic crisis and both world wars- can receive the retail trade with textiles and even develop the business.
*In 1949 the sixth generation of “Ammerers” displaces the enterprise main focus to “Braunau am Inn” and founds branches in Salzburg, Mattighofen and in the Bavarian region. The outbuilding in Ried (today: main square #29) was also acquired.
*In 1981 the headquarters are shifted back again to Ried. Since that time the enterprise expands massively. Today the seventh generation is doing the administration of business

Expansion

Basically there were/are 2 phases of expansion threw history and presence.

"Small expansion:"By the 50ies there can be spoken of an “small expansion.” In this phase the family business was shifted to Braunau in the Inn. Afterwards branches were founded in Mattighofen, Salzburg and in the Bavarian region.

"Big expansion:"The seventh ("actual") generation shifted the company headquarters back again to Ried in the Innkreis. Since the 80ies the company management enforced a massive expansion: Branches were founded in Schärding, Griekirchen, Kirchdorf am Inn, Gmunden, Mauthausen, Ottensheim and Leonding. By takeover of the company “Betten Kastner” in 1998 additional locations were established in Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck. Nevertheless, the shop in Innsbruck was closed after some years because of the geographical distance to the headquarters. (With the exception of the shift in Salzburg all locations were/are found in Upper Austria).

Actual locations

The base of the enterprise including the whole logistic, marketing and PR sections, is still in Ried im Innkreis. Other locations are in Schärding, Kirchdorf, Braunau am Inn, Kirchdorf, Gmunden, Linz, Mauthausen and Salzburg. Therefore the enterprise orders 9 branches in Austria.
