Enrique "Quique" Hernandez Marti was born in the small place of Anna in the region of Valencia. As a young man started to play football and organized his life with studying in the metal industry. From an early age started to get closer and be involved in youth categories up until he finally took the final decision to dedicate himself entirely and professionally to football- a decision which he never questioned, as he admitted that football was his life and he was committed in the profession. As far as his football career is concerned, early injuries started to play the main role, so he didn't have some impact career and all that redirected him from quite an early age to evolve in working, much luckily, with good groups of people: players and managers to finally step up, fill in his coaching career's account by leading Levante, Elche, Castellón, Hércules, Almería, Lérida, Numancia, Recreativo de Huelva, Aris Thessaloniki, Albacete Balompié.
Certain attributes of himself and his teams
Good and more-less attacking home play, tough away and solid defense overall. Respected, serious, influential, focusing on good discipline and hard work, experienced coach prioritizing primarily results and gathering points to fulfil objectives and then second comes attractiveness...Very respected amongst Aris fans mainly due to very successful first course with their beloved club. Preferred system/s is one of 3-man defenses (3-5-2, 3-6-1), although still modern 4-man defenses are not unknown for him either (as he also adopted 4-3-3 recent years, especially with Aris).
Coaching Career
pain
He is a football technician with big experience in Spain that first time in his 48 came to coach abroad (Aris in Greece). All in his country speak with good reasons especially for the fact that after almost in all the teams that he has worked with in his homeland he showed very good effort. Quique Hernandez, as afore-mantioned began coaching relatively early, in 1990, undertaking the small team of third category Benidorm. The next time he went to
CD Castellón and he did not hesitate to give chances in a 17 year old „kid“ in a match of theSegunda Division . This kid, however, developed later into a very good Spanish footballer, known to all of us asGaizka Mendieta ! A year later, he undertook for the first timeHércules CF from Alicante, when they fought for four successive years inSegunda B (third division) of theSpanish football . In his first year there he did not loose hope at the end, however the next season he went up and promoted the team in „Segunda Division“ and the fans loved him. After all, he did not remain there due to the disagreement with the management and went to the hateful opponent of Hercules,Elche CF . For some period he worked in Elche and then returned, in the season 1996-97, once again in Hercules when they were in theLa Liga . His second „shot“, however, was not so much good, after the team was relegated, regardless, Mr. Hernandez remained also for the second time there keeping them in the „Segunda Division“. Afterwards undertookAlmería without something particular to recall, while passed also inUE Lleida , in the season 2000-01. For a little, remained unemployed up to the season 2003-04 when finally undertook the reins ofCD Numancia that fought in „Segunda Division“ and promoted them comfortably to the Primera coaching the team and playing them very good football and having the best attack in the championship netting 60 goals. The next season he undertookRecreativo de Huelva aiming at, also, the promotion into the Primera, doing it successfully almost up to the end, more concretely did not accomplish finally, failing in the last match. The common element of these two seasons is that so much Numancia, what with Huelva played aggressive and beautiful football, the element, that is to say, ofAris FC under Guillermo Hoyos on the bench, as well. In the season 2006-07 began the year on the bench ofCórdoba CF , but the mediocre course of Andalusians led him to an early retirement. After the Aris first and successful course, he took overAlbacete Balompie in the beginning of 2007-08 season but he didn't keep himself there for too long before finally resigned in November due to the loss of motivation, further disappointment and figuring out that his team was qualitatively and roster-weakened after all (Líbero Parri was easily allowed to go toCadiz CF by the management for example).Greece (Aris FC)
In any case it is a trainer that suits in the philosophy of yellows from Thessaloniki and showed capable of helping the team. In his first period with Aris, in 5 months of his service he managed to take 26 points (8W, 2D, 3L)where notable matches were those of winning over
Panathinaikos away (0:1) and drawing againstOlympiakos FC away (0:0). He had led and secured Aris theUEFA Cup berth for the following season (2007-08) before eventually his contract was not extended at the end of the season 2006-07 due to unsatisfying the management where still some word had the special collaborator Manel Ferrer, concretely due to the football policy differences after Quique asked for a few more experienced players to be added on the young roster. In July 3 (2008) he rapidly and gladly accepted/signed an one-year proposal after
Dušan Bajević suddenly quit due to the disagreements with management on the potential limitted time of Aris' ex star playerAvraam Papadopoulos after refusing to renew his contract. Never questioned the pride nor turned down, something that many coaches take into serious consideration while deciding to rejoin their previous clubs, showed once again that he has great simpathies with fellow and yellow Thessalonikians after being given the chance to finish off his mission once he already started and then was unfairly stopped more than 13 months ago, enjoying the absolute confidence by Ioannis Kontis andLambros Skordas for the new appointment in Aris without a single competition for the place to quick-fill in the empty spot of Bajević's departure.ome players that he coached
