Chung Li-ho (Hakka language: Chûng Lî-fò or Tsûng Li-fô; Traditional Chinese: 鍾理和; December 15, 1915 - August 4, 1960) was a Taiwanese novelist. He was a Liutui Hakka (六堆客家人), born in Gaushu, Pingtung in 1915, and migrated to Meinong, Kaohsiung County (now part of Kaohsiung City) in 1932. He also once left Taiwan and resided in Shenyang and Beijing between 1936 and 1946. He died in Meinong when he was writing his last work.
Legacy
There is a memorial museum for Chung located in Meinong. His autobiographical novel Yuán Xiāng Rén (原鄉人; literally: The man from the native land) had been dramatized into China My Native Land, a 1980 film that directed by Hsing Lee (李行). And the homonymic theme song for the movie was sung by Teresa Teng. Additionally, Chung's son Chung Tieh-min (鍾鐵民) is also a writer.
