Mervue United F.C. is an Irish football club currently playing in the Eircom 'A' League Championship in the
Republic of Ireland . The club hails from Galway, Ireland and play their home matches atFahy's Field . Club colours are claret and blue and their current manager is former Galway United hero and Derry City coach Johnny Glynn. The team were accepted to play in the newly formed 'A' League Championship in 2008.They also have two junior teams competing in the Galway and District League as well as juveniles from the age of 9 right up to under 20 where the club competes in the Eircom League of Ireland under 20 championship.That team is managed by former Galway United Midfielder Brendan O'Connor and coached by Brian Laffey.History
In 1960, a small group of
Mervue residents decided on setting up a soccer club for the youth and so Mervue United began. The club have mainly been involved in promoting junior and juvenile soccer forGalway . They have won many underage competitions since their formation including two irish cups at under16 and under14 level.they also reached the final of the Dr. Tony O'Neill under21 league.In 2008, the club are playing in the newly formed Eircom League of Ireland 'A' League Championship where they may earn promotion to the Eircom League of Ireland First Division for the first time in the clubs history.
The club are also competing in the innagural Eircom under 20 league having previously played in the Dr Tony O'Neill under21 league.
