Steve Naghavi

Steve Naghavi is a German-Iranian singer, electronic DJ and producer. He is a founding member of the Synthpop and EBM band And One.

Steve Naghavi was born in May 26, 1970 in Teheran [Iran] . When he was only 10 years old, he and his family ran away from Iran's war and finally moved to Germany by using wrong passports.He grew up listening to music like Depeche Mode, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Kraftwerk.His father decided to name him Steve, because he was a huge fan of Steve McQueen.

Naghavi's Work with And One

In 1981 he listened to Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough". He formed the German Synthpop band And One in 1989 after meeting bandmate Chris Ruiz in a Berlin nightclub.

Being fans of early EBM music (especially Depeche Mode), Naghavi and Ruiz decided to follow in the footsteps of the Synth-pop band Depeche Mode by using two keyboards and a beatbox.

"When I was 13 or 14 years old I wanted to have a haircut like Dave Gahan. I cut my hair like Dave Gahan and then I wanted to cut it by myself. Joke was barber you know, he taught me to cut my hair by myself. So I made a mistake. I made this [touches his head] and I kept this. This now is the real Steve Naghavi haircut."
