Milwaukee Fire Department Established January 1, 1875 Strength 955 Stations 36 Engines 36 Trucks 16 EMS Level BLS & ALS Fire chief Mark Rohlfing The Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) has the responsibility for protecting the citizens and property of Milwaukee from fire and fire hazards and providing emergency medical services.[1]
The Milwaukee Fire Department consists of approximately 1000 firefighters, many of whom also serve as paramedics providing basic and advanced life support services.[1] The department was ranked third in the U.S. for best medical emergency service by a USA Today study in 2003.[2]
Former Fire Chief Douglas A. Holton resigned from the force in November 2009.[3] As of May 2010, the department is under the leadership of Chief Mark Rohlfing.[4]

Organizational structure
The Milwaukee Fire Department has six support divisions: Firefighting Division, Bureau of Administration, Bureau of Instruction and Training, Bureau of Construction and Maintenance, Bureau of Special Operations, and Bureau of Technical Services.[5]
