- Liebert (company)
Liebert Corporation is an American manufacturer of Environmental, Power, and Monitoring Systems for main-frame computer, server racks, and critical process systems based in
Columbus, Ohio .The company was founded in 1946 as Capital Refrigeration Industries in Columbus, Ohio by Ralph C. Liebert (1921-1984). It became The Liebert Corporation in 1965, when Ralph Liebert designed and began the manufacture and sales of the first "100% redundant, dedicated, and purpose built" computer room air-conditioner, targeting the rapidly developing "mainframe computer" data-processing market. The company enjoyed double-digit growth in this market niche during the next several decades.
After the introduction of additional products, and through acquisition, innovation, and continued sales successes, Ralph Liebert took the company public in 1981. Liebert began attracting the attention of other companies, and ultimately was purchased in 1987 by
Emerson Electric Co. of St. Louis, Missouri.Mr Liebert's legacy is firmly established today; The Liebert Corporation continues to be the largest division of Emerson Network Power, or ENP - which, in turn, is a business unit of today's Emerson Corporation (EMR).
