- Student Aid Alliance
The Student Aid Alliance is a coalition of 66 national higher education organizations and associations fighting to increase funding for federal student
financial aid programs for students from all backgrounds. The Student Aid Alliance supports a package of proven student aid programs to help students achieve their higher education
higher education goals without excessive debt. These programs include Pell grants, the campus-based programs (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants [SEOG] , Federal Work-Study, and Perkins loans), Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnerships (LEAP), Federal Student Loans, Federal TRIO programs, and graduate programs. The Alliance encourages students to get involved in the policy making process by writing letters to their representatives on higher education issues, visiting with their representative, making phone phone calls to congress, or by bringing a representative to their school. The Alliance urges these contacts to include stories of how federal student aid has made a positive difference in the student's life.
The Student Aid Alliance is spearheaded by the
National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), an organization of private US colleges and universities. NAICU has over 1,000 United States independent higher education institutions.NAICU staff meets with policymakers, helps coordinate the joint activities of state-level private college associations, and advises members of legislative and regulatory developments with potential impact on their institutions.
