Raffaello Romanelli, an Italian sculptor, (May 13, 1856 - 1928) born in
Florence, Italy . He studied with his fatherPasquale Romanelli (1812 - 1887), who in turn had studied with the sculptorBartolini . He continued his studies at theFlorence Academy withAugusto Rivalta andEmilio Zocchi , both well respected academians of the time. Romanelli later taught at the Academy. Raffaello's son was sculptorCarlo Romanelli .His works include the Monument to
Carol I of Romania , located atPeleş Castle , a Monument to CzarAlexander II in Russia , the equestrian Garibaldi Monument inSiena, Italy (ca. 1896) and a monument toJohn Wister (1903) [Fairmont Park Association, "Sculpture of a City – Philadelphia’s Treasures in Bronze and Stone", Fairmont Park Association, Walker Publishing Co., Inc, NY.
