Berserker (character class)

Berserker (character class)

Berserker is a character class in a number of role-playing games and computer role-playing games, including "Final Fantasy".Most of the time, a Berserker is a physically strong and agile warrior without great intelligence or specials skills besides their high offensive power in battle.

Berserker (Final Fantasy)

In the Final Fantasy series the Berserker Class debuted in Final Fantasy V as a Job Class after acquiring the pieces of the Water Crystal. After achieving LVL 1 in the job, characters are able to equip the traditional Berserker ability Berserk, allowing increased physical attack, but denying the ability to use any other ability than Attack. At LVL 2 they gain the ability to allow other classes to equip axes. Berserkers do have MP, and a means of using them: Runic weapons use them For Massive Damage.

The Berserker Class did not appear in the series again until Final Fantasy X-2, where the player could acquire the Berserker Dressphere after defending O'aka's shop from fiends in Chapter 3. The dressphere allowed the player to gain abilities such as Cripple and Mad Rush, taking full advantage of the Berserkers immense strength. As well as these, the berserk command was again available to allow more damage for less control.

There is also a status effect named Berserk throughout the series which allows those affected to gain a great amount of physical attack power while losing the ability to do anything but attack an enemy.

Berserker (Fire Emblem)

In the Fire Emblem series, Berserkers are the heavy hitting units of the game. Wielding huge axes, and having the ability to cross water squares, Berserkers were unique. Berserkers also have the ability to increase their critical chance by 15 or 30%, varying upon the game. To obtain one, the player would either have to LVL up a Pirate to LVL 10 or above and promote them with an Ocean Seal/Hero's Crest in the case of bandits, or obtain one of the already promoted characters such as Hawkeye from Fire Emblem The Blazing Sword or Dozla from The Sacred Stones. In Fire Emblem:Monsyo no Nazo, berserkers are enemy-only sword wielding units in the second story that resemble heroes.
