Springfield and South-Eastern Railroad

Springfield and South-Eastern Railroad

Chartered in 1869, the Springfield and Southeastern ran from Springfield, Illinois to Shawneetown, Illinois. It was under construction until at least 1871, when it was noted as having been increased by 140 miles. It merged in 1893 with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (which in turn became part of the CSX railroad).
