Station location

Claremont station is located in the middle of Claremont. The railway's right-of-way lies between two arterial roads: Shenton Road and Gugeri Street. There are three access points to the station from each street. At the western and eastern ends of the island platform are grade level track crossings through electrically activated gates. In the centre of the platform the original pedestrian bridge provides access by stairs to the platform and to the elevated signal box. [2] Local schools served by the station include Claremont Primary School, East Claremont Primary School, Claremont School of Art, Christ Church Grammar School, Methodist Ladies' College and Scotch College. Scotch College is primarily served by Swanbourne station.

Future

There are plans by the Public Transport Authority to upgrade the current station. Originally scheduled for completion in 2004, the works by 2009 had been deferred to 2013. [3] Upgrades to the station would include improved pedestrian, bicycle, and bus access to the station along with enhanced lighting and security.[3]

Services

All trains stop at Claremont station; these are all stations, A, B, K, L, and S-pattern trains. During peak hours trains operate every ten minutes in each direction. Trains run every 15 minutes during daylight off-peak hours, and every 30 minutes in the evenings till midnight.[4] Between 5am and 6pm all Perth-bound trains from Claremont, except one, are Midland Line through services terminating at Midland station. Claremont is also the point at which A and B trains switch from local to express running, with A trains running local towards Fremantle and B trains running local towards Perth.[4]
