"Longimactra elongata" is a species of large bivalve mollusc in the family Mactridae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand, including the Chatham Islands.

Habitat

It is found from shallow water to depths of about 75 m.

Description

The shell is large and solid, elongate-oval, sculpture consisting of fine concentric growth lines over most of the shell.

Coloration is light brownish-buff with many chestnut spots and streaks, covered by a thin yellowish-brown periostracum.

Maximum height is 67 mm, length 111 mm, and thickness 34 mm.
