- Lauvøylandet
Lauvøylandet is a small island outside
Sandnessjøen in northern Norway. The island is often called called Rødøya, but that is not correct. Rødyøa is a island much further north. The location of the the famous rock carving lies in a area called "Røøya" and therefore people may have presumed it to be local dialect for "Rødøya" (Red-island).It is most famous for having a 4000 year old rock carving portraying a man skiing. This is the oldest picture in the world of someone using skis.External links
