1930 VFL Grand Final

1930 VFL Grand Final

The 1930 VFL Grand Final took place on October 11, 1930 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between VFL clubs Collingwood and Geelong.

Collingwood made history by becoming the first, and so far only, club to win four successive premierships. They had to do it without Jock McHale who had coached them all season and to the previous three premierships as he was sick with influenza. As a result Collingwood were coached on the day by their treasurer and former player Bob Rush.

Despite being behind at half time by 21 points, Collingwood put on a eight goal third quarter to regain the lead and win comfortably in the end. Collingwood fielded three pairs of brothers, the Coventrys, Colliers and Murphys. Harry Collier played his 100th game.
