Survey of India Service is acadre ofGovernment of India . The members of this service are responsible for planning and execution of engineering surveys and meeting the mapping needs of the country. Direct appointment to the service is made on the basis of a Competitive Examination i.e.,Indian Engineering Services Examination conducted by theUnion Public Service Commission every year. Only candidates having a Bacheolars Degree in Engineering i.e., BE/BTech/AMIE from a recognized college/university/institution are eligible to take the examination. All the Group 'A' Posts of the service areCivil Engineering Posts orElectronics and Telecommunication Engineering Posts. The streams are desiganted asSIS(Civil) andSIS(Electronics) . The Direct Entry level Group 'A'post on the basis ofIndian Engineering Services Examination isDeputy Superintending Surveyor . The candidates recommended for appointments to the service are initially trained atSurvey Training Institute in Engineering Surveying and Mapping at Uppal,Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh ,India .indian Survey Act External links
