¹On the week ending 18 December 1953, Frankie Laine's and David Whitfield's versions of "Answer Me" both sold enough copies to be the #1 single. As there weren't many chart rules at the time and no official UK charts company, they had to share the #1 spot. This was the first such instance, which occured several times during the decade.
