- Ocean's seven
-
Ocean's Seven is the marathon swimming equivalent of the mountain climbing challenge Seven Summits, though unlike that even Ocean's Seven has never been completed. The "Seven" referred to by the title are the Irish Channel, the Cook Strait, the Molokai Channel, the English Channel, the Catalina Channel, the Tsugaru Strait and the Strait of Gibraltar.
Some people say the Ocean's Seven should be one channel from each of the seven continents, as the Seven Summits refers to the highest mountain on each continent. In this case the list would include a South American channel and a swim in Antarctica. Lynne Cox has swum channels in 6 continents and swam for 30 minutes in Antarctica. However she has not swum the North Channel or the Molokai Channel which feature in the original list.
