John Sandys

John Sandys

John Sandys (born in Lancashire between 1550 and 1555; [http://www.cliftondiocese.com/beatified-martyrs-of-the-clifton-diocese Clifton Diocese | Beatified Martyrs of the Clifton Diocese ] ] executed at Gloucester, 11 August1586) was an English Roman Catholic priest. He is a Catholic martyr, beatified in 1987.

Life

He studied at the University of Oxford, and Douai College.

He arrived at Reims 4 June, 1583, and was ordained priest in the Holy Cross Chapel of Reims Cathedral by the Cardinal Archbishop, Louis de Guise. He was sent on the English mission 2 October, 1584.
