Isahaya Station

nihongo|Isahaya Station|諫早駅|Isahaya-eki| is a train station in Eishō-chō, Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture. It is controlled by JR Kyushu and operates on three lines, the Nagasaki Main Line, the Ōmura Line and the Shimabara Railway Line. All Limited Express Kamome trains, Rapid Seaside Liner trains, and express trains on the Shimabara line stop at this station.

The station building was completed in 1934 and is made of wood in a western style. It has an automatic ticket machine as well as a "Midori no Madoguchi". However it does not have ticket turnstiles, nor any elevators or escalators. Elevators were scheduled to be installed in early 2008.

History

*1898-11-27 - Opening as a station on the Kyushu Railway Nagasaki Line.
*1907-07-01 - Nationalization of the railways.
*1909-10-12 - The Nagasaki Line is renamed the Nagasaki Main Line.
*1911-08-21 - Section of track from Isahaya to Hon-Isahaya on the Shimabara Railway Line opens. Station now operates on two lines.
*1934-03-24 - Section of track from Isahaya to Yue on the Ariake Nishi Line opens.
*1934-12-01 - Ariake Nishi and Higashi lines are connected and become part of the Nagasaki Main Line. In addition, the section of track from Haiki to Isahaya is separated as the Ōmura Line. This station now operates on three lines.
*1987-04-01 - The national railways are split and privatized. The Nagasaki Main Line and Ōmura line are now operated by JR Kyushu.
