The Eugene Field House in St. Louis, Missouri was the home of Roswell Field, an attorney for Dred Scott in "Dred Scott v. Sandford". Built in 1829, the house is the only survivor of a group of similar houses called Walsh's Row. Field's son, Eugene Field, was born there and became a noted writer of children's stories. Threatened with demolition, the house was transferred to the St. Louis Board of Education in 1936. It is presently a museum.
