Takashi Sasaki’s career’s starting point dates back to
1977 .Yamaha was hosting a contest open to new bands called “EAST WEST ’77.”Casiopea along with Takashi Sasaki on drums participated in this in order to get an opportunity in a future career. Their success in the competition gathered them some popularity and together Takashi Sasaki andCasiopea proceeded to record their debut album, “CASIOPEA” on May 25, 1979.But In November of the same year, just after the release of
SUPER FLIGHT they realized that Takashi’s playing was not suited to the group’s sound and they decided that they would have to let him go. After the news that Casiopea was looking for a new drummer, they were shortly introduced toAkira Jimbo who then took Takashi Sasaki’s place.Takashi Sasaki did not leave the genre of
jazz after he left Casiopea. He later joined a group with jazz guitarist Osamu Hiroshi Miyano. Today, Takashi Sasaki is a professional musician and he participates as a drummer in the recordings of soundtracks for many shows that air on Japanese television.
