"Head Rolls Off" is a song by Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit, and is the first single release from "The Midnight Organ Fight". Scott Hutchison notes that the song is about "dying and leaving something behind." With regards to the song's atheist tone, Hutchison states that: "you can still believe in God. What matters most is what you do whilst you are alive."

B-side, "Set You Free" is an N-Trance cover. Regarding the cover, Hutchison states that:

"it was done with absolutely no tongue-in-cheek whatsoever. It's genuinely one of my favourite songs and it sort of reminds me, and I was hoping it'd be the same for a bunch of people, of a time in my life and it fits with how "The Midnight Organ Fight" is about a girl."
