Magdiwang Katipunan

Magdiwang Katipunan

The Katipunan was a Philippine revolutionary organization founded by Filipino rebels in Manila, in 1892, which aimed to gain independence from Spain. The Magdiwang was a chapter of the Katipunan in Cavite. The Magdiwang Chapter was started by Gen. Mariano Álvarez and became Andres Bonifacio's largest supporter. Both the Magdiwang and the Magdalo(Emilio Aguinaldo's organization) were the two major Katipunan factions in Cavite, with the Magdiwang having control over a larger number of towns and municipalities. At the Tejeros Convention both factions were phased in to one government body under Emilio Aguinaldo.
