Charlotte Sarah Jane Grimstead (nee Walsh) (1767-1848), was the daughter of Frederick Walsh, duke of Redburn (d. 1824) and poss. Elizabeth --- (poss. d. 1770's).
Life
Miss Walsh grew up in Redburn as being a Duke's daughter.
She later married Joseph Grimstead, son of Thomas and Charlotte Grimstead and had 1 daughter, Charlotte Grimstead who will grow up to be the mother of Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne which makes Charlotte Sarah Jane Grimstead a direct ancestor to Queen Elizabeth II.
She was Widowed in 1809 and didn't marry again but brought Charlotte up on her own until she got married to Thomas George Bowes-Lyon who is son of Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 11th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and his first wife.
Her major interest in her grandchildren was Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne whom she was very close to until she died of old age in 1848 aged 81.
