George Park Fisher (
August 10 ,1827 -December 20 ,1909 ) was an American theologian and historian who was noted as a teacher and a prolific writer. He was born inWrentham, Massachusetts , graduated fromBrown University in 1847, studied theology atYale Divinity School and in Germany, and graduated from theAndover Theological Seminary in 1851. From 1854 to 1861, he was professor of divinity at Yale, and he later became a professor of ecclesiastical history and an emeritus professor in 1901. He was president of theAmerican Historical Association in 1898.Works
