J Xavier has performed live more than 350 times, has developed his own TV show and has conducted more than 75 television interviews. At the age of 12, J.Xavier won PAX-TV’s America’s Most Talented Kids Show contest.
Early Life
J Xavier comes from a family of musical children. One of five, his older brother plays trumpet and one of his sisters wrote a song on Whitney Houston’s last album. Xavier's musical talent came from being raised in church, where he learned to sing and play drums. His father, Samuel Harris Jr., is the founder and pastor of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Houston.
Career
J Xavier’s career began at the age of seven when he sang a powerful version of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” during a school talent show. J Xavier fell in love with rap music after being invited to cut some demos. At the age of 9 Xavier released his first independent album, I'm A Rider. In 2001 he released his second album, I Gotta Be Me. Two years later he recorded an album titled Yao Ming Wants The Dunk, which is an anthem for Houston Rocket Yao Ming. In 2003, J's track I’m a Rider earned him the Best Song of the Year. In 2004 his stage performance earned him Best Stage Performer of the Year. In 2005 J Xavier released his latest album, "Young Prince Of Tha South". He also dropped the "Lil" from his name.
Personal Life
In 2004 J Xavier became a National Black Caucus Youth spokesperson.On Feb. 18th, 2004, the mayor of Houston presented J Xavier with a proclamation marking the day J Xavier Day. At the age of 12, J Xavier won PAX-TV’s America’s Most Talented Kids Show contest. J Xavier has an upcoming television show, YGTV (Young Generation TV), features J Xavier interviewing some of his favorite celebrities and personalities.
