"Casmaria ponderosa perryi" is a subspecies of very large predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the subfamily Cassinae, the helmet shells and bonnet shells, which feed on sea urchins.

Distribution

This subspecies is endemic to south eastern Australia, and New Zealand including the Kermadec Islands.

hell description

The shell is small and narrowly ovate, smooth and polished. The aperture does not contain denticles.

Coloration is fawn to pale orange-brown, with five spiral bands of reddish-brown maculations on the body whorl.

The maximum shell height is 52 mm, and width 27 mm.
