- Robertson Gladstone
Robertson Gladstone (1805 - 1875), was the son of
Sir John Gladstone and the elder brother of four times prime minster,William Ewart Gladstone . Robertson married Mary Ellen Jones, Daughter of a notable local banker.The mansion house 'Court Hey Hall' was built the same year.
He was a notable
Liverpool entrepreneur and politician and served as mayor of the city in 1842. In August 1845 Robertson was Deputy Chairman of theGrand Junction Railway and was also on the committee of theBirmingham and Oxford Junction Railway .In 1846 Robertson was one of the 'gentlemen' present during the visit of Prince Albert to the Liverpool Sailors Home.He was also a Trustee of the Liverpool Union Mill and Bread Company and a member of the Health Committee.
Robertson was chairman of the Financial Reform Association.

Both daughters married, but none of the sons ever did and they lived out their lives in court hey hall until the last son Walter died in 1919.
