"Some Reulis and Cautelis to be observit and eschewit in Scottis poesie" (
1584 ) is the full title of a work ofScots non-fiction prose by KingJames VI of Scotland written with the purpose to describe and establish standards for prosody in Scotland in the late16th century . It is often referred to simply as the "Reulis and Cautelis" ("Rules and Cautions"). It was principally composed for the members of theCastalian Band of poets.
