Jordi Valls i Pozo

Jordi Valls i Pozo (Barcelona, January 25th 1970) is a catalan poet.

He was born in Barcelona in 1970, but since a long time ago he lives in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, city that strongly inpressed his poetic trajectory.

Jordi Valls has presided The Associació de Joves Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Young Catalan Language Writers) from 1994 to 1996 and is a member of The Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC) and The PEN Club Català (Catalan PEN Club).

Having won The Jocs Florals de la Llengua Catalana in 2006, is the first auctor who holds the office of Poet of The City, Actually he works like a bookseller in city centre. Ernest Farrés, auctor of the antology called "21 poetes del XXI" (2001), states that "In the hands of Jordi Valls poetry is not only subversion but it is most of all the essence of the literary fact". And Carles Martí, Town Councillor of Culture in the Council of Barcelona defined him like "a citizen of the Metropolis who knows to capture the instants in which the human life has expression with all its beauty".
