Tim Williams spent the early part of his childhood in several places. After his birth in Providence, Williams' family moved to
Wooster, Ohio and thenColumbus, Ohio . While in Columbus, Williams began his musical path learning to play drums, and teaching himself to play guitar. He also began writing and recording on afour track tape recorder.After graduating from
Findlay University in 2002 Williams moved toBoston ,MA to focus more intently on writing and performing. While in Boston, Williams released the self produced EPs "Songs For The Commute" and "The Refrain".After one year in Boston, Williams moved to New York. Williams immediately began writing and recording while staying at the
Hotel Chelsea . These sessions turned into his two subsequent albums, "8/18 Chelsea Sessions" and "Tales of Digression" which would soon after become the first two releases on theDovecote Records label.In addition to touring
New England and theMidwest , the release of "Tales of Digression" brought Williams to theUK to play small clubs and venues. Shortly thereafter he metLondon -based producer Dave Lynch during a showcase at theCMJ festival inNew York . Lynch offered to record Williams' next record if he ever found himself in the UK again. In November, 2005 Williams moved in with with friends inEastbourne ,England and began writing and recording. He also continued to play small clubs and venues opening for musicians from and friends of theIzumi Records label (Liam Finn ,Duke Special ,The Late Greats , andIan Archer ). Dovecote released the resulting work as Williams' Merchant Heart EP in 2006 and then "When Work Is Done" in 2007.The release of "When Work Is Done" marked Williams first release with national exposure. He embarked on multiple tours making stops at
South By Southwest ,CMJ , and theSundance Film Festival . His video for "Novel" wonMTV 's weekly video contest The Freshman.Williams is currently completing the second video in support for "When Work Is Done" and preparing to tour again in the fall of 2008.
