- Saheb Sarbib
Saheb Sarbib (b. 1944) is an American
jazz double-bass ist andbandleader .Sarbib may have been raised in
Algeria , where his father was a musician, but the details of his early life are not known. From 1973 to about 1977 Sarbib led his own ensembles inFrance ;Daunik Lazro ,François Jeanneau , Muhammad Ali, andMino Cinélu were among those who played with him as sidemen. He then moved toNew York City , where he led small groups and a Multinational Big Band, with sidemen includingRoy Campbell ,Jack Walrath ,Art Baron ,Talib Kibwe ,Joe Ford ,Jemeel Moondoc ,Mark Whitecage , andDave Hofstra . Sarbib disappeared from music in the late 1980s.Discography
