Walter Frere

Walter Frere

Walter Howard Frere, CR (1863-1938) was a co-founder of an Anglican Religious order, the Community of the Resurrection and later bishop of Truro (1923-1935). He was a member of the Anglican delegation to the Malines Conversations.

Frere assisted the Indian Syro-Malenkara church with the foundation of the Bethany religious order. The dioceses forming this church however were received into the Roman Catholic communion in 1930.

He is buried at Mirfield.
