Enteman graduated from the
Hotchkiss School in 1955 before attendingWilliams College . After having graduated in 1959, he attendedHarvard Business School and earned a PHD fromBoston University . Before teaching at Bowdoin, Entemann taught atWheaton College and was chair of the philosophy department atUnion College .Enteman was president of Bowdoin for only a couple of years, serving from 1978 to 1980. Notably, in 1978, he helped in the creation of a committee that recommended that Bowdoin remove its ties with companies deeply involved with South Africa and set up scholarship funds for South African students. He went on to teach philosophy at
Rhode Island College and has served on the board of theSenior Initiative . Additionally, he has authored three books in his career.External links
