Princess Hwahyop

Princess Hwahyop (1733–1752), born of Lady Sonhui, is the seventh daughter of King Yeongjo of Joseon, married to Yongsong-Wi Sin Kwangsu. She was conferred upon the title "Princess Hwahyop" in the 19th year of King Yeongjo's reign. She died of measles in 1752 at the age of 19.

According to the memoirs of Lady Hyegyong, "Princess Hwahyop was exceptionally beautiful and devoted to her parents, but his majesty (King Yeongjo) was very cold towards her, probably because of his disappointment that the child was not a boy." Similarly disfavoured by their father, Prince Sado had this specially affinity with her. He was always attentive to her and when she died, he mourned her with real sorrow.
