Stanford Hall, Nottinghamshire

Stanford Hall is a stately home in Nottinghamshire, England, in Stanford on Soar just north of Loughborough.

Stanford Hall was built between 1771 and 1774 for Charles Vere Dashwood. From the late 19th century it was owned by the Ratcliffe family. In 1928 Sir Julian Cahn purchased the Hall for £70,000 (equivalent to £3,022,919 in 2007). [http://www.measuringworth.com/index.html] On Cahn's death in 1944 it was puchased for £54,000 by the Co-operative Union who used it to house its Co-operative College. The Co-operative College relocated to Holyoake House in Manchester in 2001.
