Rendezvous Rye Whiskey

Rendezvous Rye Whiskey is the first commercial offering from High West Distillery, located in Park City, Utah. Though there are a number of breweries and wineries in the state, Rendezvous Rye Whiskey is the first legally distilled spirit to be made in Utah since the end of Prohibition. The whiskey gets its name from 19th century summer trading gatherings of mountain men (or Rendezvous) that took place in Utah. Whiskey was a popular item at these trade gatherings.

The whiskey currently sold under the name Rendezvous Rye Whiskey is not actually distilled in Utah, but is actually a blend of a 6-year-old 95% rye whiskey and 16-year-old 80% rye whiskey, both of which were distilled in Kentucky. The whiskey is blended in Utah by High West Distillery using water from local sources. High West does distill and age its own whiskey, though none of it has aged long enough to be ready for commercial distribution. Once their whiskey has aged, High West plans to bottle and distribute it. Rendezvous was developed to provide the distillery with income and to build brand awareness while their own whiskey ages.
