hell description
The shell is fairly solid, nearly circular, with rather narrowly pointed beaks, and little inflation. Sculpture consists of irregular deep growth lines.
Shell coloration is dull white under a thin light yellowish-brown
periostracum . Some examples, particularly fromTakapuna ,Auckland , are salmon-pink, especially towards the hinge.The shell height is up to 25 mm, width up to 26 mm, and thickness up to 14 mm.
