Stockport Youth Orchestra

The Stockport Youth Orchestra is a group of three Classical Music ensembles for people of up to 21 years of age from the area of Stockport, Cheshire in the United Kingdom.

It was formed in 1956, and has provided orchestral experience for many players who have gone on to make a name for themselves, for example Jennifer Pike, and Nicholas Kenyon and has commissioned work from composers such as Alistair King, as well as performing premiers of pieces such as Shell Adagio for strings by Nimrod Borenstein.

The Orchestra is the Youth Partner of Manchester Camerata.

The Musical Director is Philip Mackenzie who is also Principal Conductor of the Amadeus Orchestra and the London Mozart Symphony Orchestra.

It is administered by the Patrons' Society, which is a Registered Charity.
