John Finglow (Fingley) (b. at
Barnby , nearHowden ,Yorkshire ; executed atYork ,8 August 1586 ) was an EnglishRoman Catholic priest. He is a Catholic martyr,beatified in 1987.Life
He was ordained priest at the English College,
Reims , 25 March, 1581. The following month he was sent on the English mission.After he had been for some time in the north of England, he was seized and confined in
Ousebridge Kidcote , York. He was finally tried for being a Catholic priest and reconciling English subjects to the Catholic Church, and was condemned to behanged, drawn, and quartered .References
