Suken

Suken (Japanese: "数検" or "実用数学技能検定") or Global Mathematics Certification is a world mathematics certification program and its examination which was established in Japan in 1988. Nowadays, Suken is extended in the world.

Outline of Suken

Suken has some levels (Kyu) for suit grades, has two sections in one grade. Section 1 is calculation test. Section 2 is application test.

Passing Rate

For passing Suken, you must answer correctly, approximately 70% in section 1, approximately 60% in section 2.

Grades

5th Kyu, suits for 7th grade

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 60 minutes in section 2.

4th Kyu, suits for 8th grade

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 60 minutes in section 2.

3rd Kyu, suits for 9th grade

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 60 minutes in section 2.

5th-3rd Kyu include following subjects.
* Calculation with negative number
* Inequality
* Simultaneous equations
* Congruency and similarity
* Square root
* Factorization
* Quadratic equation and function
* Pythagorean theorem
* Probability
* And so on...

pre 2nd Kyu, suits for 10th grade

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 90 minutes in section 2.

2nd Kyu, suits for 11th grade

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 90 minutes in section 2.

pre 1st Kyu, suits for 12th grade

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 120 minutes in section 2.

pre 2nd-pre 1st Kyu include following subjects.
* Quadratic function
* Trigonometry
* Sequence
* Vector
* Complex number
* Basic calculus
* Matrix
* Simple curved lines
* Probability
* And so on…

1st Kyu, the highest level, suits for undergrad and graduate

Examination time is 60 minutes in section 1, 120 minutes in section 2.

1st Kyu includes following subjects.
* Linear algebra
* Vector
* Matrix
* Differential equation
* Statistics
* Probability
* And so on…
