- The KangaZoo Club
An educational program on wild animals from Canada in 1983, hosted by Russel Chong and Melissa Glavota, with Nancy Ryan performing the music numbers on the animal used in the segment, with her guitar. The program was recorded in Toronto in front of a KangaZoo Club audience, with one of them even telling their animal-type joke and a lucky audience member getting a stuffed animal toy from KangaZoo (voiced by Julianne Rice), where she takes the animal toy out of her pouch. There's even a segment where Bill Valer from the "Endangered Animal Sanctuary", brings endangered animals to the studio and the KangaZoo members asks some questions or comments on the animal featured on the show.
Russel & Melissa visited zoological locations, including the
Toronto Zoo with Toby Styles, Marineland inNiagara Falls with Mark Shawver andAfrican Lion Safari with Ron Cameron, to get more info on the animals to use for the show. The show aired on
Global TV in 1983 and its reruns aired on YTV in the late 1980s. [ [http://movies.com/kangazoo-club-the-v-1/d819881 KangaZoo Club Vol. 1] ]References
