- The Brass Rail
The Brass Rail is one of Toronto's most notable
strip clubs . It is located onYonge Street just south of Bloor. It is well known as a popular venue for celebrities, especially during theToronto International Film Festival , which is based at the nearby luxury hotels of Yorkville. [MacInnis, Craig. lap dancing . When federal laws also arrived banning lap dancing, it was one of a group of clubs that brought the issue all the way to theSupreme Court of Canada , which in 1999 threw out the bans on lap dancing. B.05] The club was also prominent opponent of Toronto's anti-smoking bylaws, Club is also known to "rip" off new customers by stealing money off drunk patrons then kicking them out.In January 2008 two ejected patrons opened fire on a club bouncer. They missed, but hit John O'Keefe who was walking past the club and killed him instantly. The shooting of an innocent passerby on the city's busiest street shocked the city and generated much media attention. [Visschedyk, Nicole.
