Andre Roosevelt (c. 1879-July 1962) was an American
filmmaker . He was born inParis, France to Cornelius Roosevelt (1847-1902), a cousin of U.S. PresidentTheodore Roosevelt , who married a French actress. Cornelius was the black sheep of theRoosevelt family , who paid him off to fade away and live in Paris.Roosevelt was an adventurer, traveling to

In 1928 and 1929, he andArmand Denis shot "Goona-Goona, An Authentic Melodrama" (also called "The Kris") with assistance fromWalter Spies . It was released in America in 1930 and started an American craze for Bali.He was also well known for his 1938 film "Beyond the Caribbean". He died in July 1962 in
